Abstract

Islam is the religion that aims to establish a balanced, peaceful and civilized society. It teaches the foundational and smooth ethical principles of life, which are filled with tranquility and ease. Those who embraced its golden principles and remained steadfast upon them while clinging to العروة الوثقي (the firmest bond) they attained true success and triumph. History bears witness that those who turned away from divine guidance fell into moral and social decline. Through adherence to these principles, a society develops. Nowadays, the Muslim Ummah has been struggling with internal and external challenges. Where the economic challenges and political instability exist, the Muslim society internally is plagued by waywardness. Along with the erosion of moral norms, its negative impacts are weakening Muslim society. The solution to this moral decline is only in the adhering principles of Islamic Sharia. Prophet Muhammad (SAW) guided the Muslim Ummah in every aspect of life and established the morally refined and structurally balanced society. By following his guidance and teachings, social deterioration can be addressed and overcome. This study examines the causes of moral decline from the perspectives of economics, ideology, politics, and society, drawing upon examples from daily life. It further analyzes the everyday consequences of this decline—such as rising crime rates, social frustration, family disintegration, and the spread of social and moral disorders —and proposes solutions inspired by the Seerah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. This study investigates the perspectives of students from grades 9 to 12 in five selected schools and colleges in Karachi through structured questionnaires. Additionally, it explores the views of teachers and parents using open-ended, qualitative interviews.
